Katavi National Park is located in western Tanzania and was formed in 1974. It was previously a game reserve. It used to be 1,823km2. It was expanded to 4,471km2 in 1997. The park, which is 40 kilometers south of Mpanda town and Tanzania's third largest national park after Ruaha and Serengeti, is located 40 kilometers south of Mpanda town.
